Data Mapping FAQs

Updated: Mar 16, 2023

What is Data Mapping?

Data mapping is the process of connecting your data sources and identifying what fields and metrics you want to pull into your involve.ai dashboard.

How do I connect/integrate with involve.ai?

You can connect your data sources with involve.ai directly through our platform. We have over 160+ integrations that you can authenticate with. For more details, you can refer to this article: Integrating Your Data.

What type of data do you need?

To get the maximum accuracy on your customer health through the involve.ai dashboard, you would need the following data points:

  1. Customer information through your CRM - name, status, revenue, maturity, etc.

  2. Product usage - How often the product is used, active users on the platform, average clicks, etc.

  3. Interaction/Communication data - How often customers are communicating, emails, calls, meetings, webinars, etc.

  4. Support Tickets - Number and severity of support issues logged, priority and resolution timeline, etc.

  5. Customer Sentiment - Emails, calls, and meeting data

We recommend providing at least 1 year of historical data so we can generate trends around your customer behavior.

Who do I need to map my data?

Someone with admin access or who can share admin access with you to each of your data sources

What is the process like

  1. Select an integration

  2. Authenticate by logging in

  3. Map desired tables and columns to pull in

How long does this take?

Varies based on what you're pulling in.

Which integrations are most important to start with?

With the goal to get maximum accuracy across your customer health, we would recommend integrating with data sources containing the majority of your data points. Some of the priority integrations would be:

  1. CRM

  2. Product information

  3. Interaction/support data

Can I just give you a CSV instead?

While it is better to connect to a data source that keeps your data updated, we can also pull your data using a CSV instead.

You can upload CSVs on an Amazon S3 bucket and integrate with involve.ai. We would recommend you share at least 1 year of historical data so we can generate trends around your customer behavior.

Please note: CSVs would need to be updated on a daily/weekly basis at your end to make sure the data stays up to date and we can continue to update data trends.

Can I pull multiple data types/metrics from just 1 data source?

Yes

Will you clean the data, or will we?

Our Data Science Consulting team will work with you to ensure you find valuable insights from your data in the involve.ai platform but to establish data integrity, this data must come from the customer. Our DSCs will collaborate with you to review raw data, identify gaps (i.e., hierarchy broken, missing ID, missing KPIs, etc), and make recommendations for improving data.

Because clean data is essential to gain the most value from the platform, we suggest some data preparation before integration. Here is an article outlining this process: Preparing Your Data.

Will you get this from the API or from our data lake?

We will work with you to integrate your data sources. You can integrate your data sources with our data mapping feature through the platform. We currently have over 160 integrations available and working on integrating more data sources.

Once I start mapping, can I save and return later?

Yes

Can I make updates to my data/data integrations in the future?

Yes

What if I need help?

involve.ai schedules a couple of calls with you to review your data. More working sessions can be scheduled as needed.

Your First Save & Launch

During the data mapping process, at least 2 data calls are scheduled with your involve.ai CSM and your data scientist. When your data has been reviewed and validated by both your team and ours, we will click Save & Launch to begin working on your insights dashboard.

What happens after I click Save & Launch? involve.ai will get to work! Our team requires at least 2 weeks to deliver your dashboard once everything has been mapped.

What if I need to make changes and I already pressed Save & Launch?

Contact your CSM for help and to see if data mapping can be re-enabled.

After Your Dashboard Has Been Delivered

Will I be able to make updates to my integrations page/data mapping?

Yes

What is the process like to make an update?

Whenever you make an update in your data mapping section, it's always important to get another set of eyes to help. So, once you make the update and save it for that section, contact your CSM for review.

Once the CSM reviews your changes with you, you will be able to click Save & Launch again, to finalize the update.

How long will it take to see my update on the dashboard?

For minor updates (like an involve.ai column name change), you'll see that reflected in your dashboard after a couple of days. For new fields, metrics, or data sources, you'll see that reflected in your dashboard after a couple of weeks.

Will I get notified once this update has been incorporated into my dashboard?

Yes. Your CSM will be able to notify you once the update is live in your involve.ai dashboard. Reminder to flag any updates you make to your CSM, so they can alert you when your changes are ready.
